Voices Initiatives

100 Voices: A Policy Institute is an annual event hosted by Voices for Georgia’s Children to give leaders in business, government, non-profit organizations and service agencies an opportunity to start building a community devoted to shaping policies that improve the well being of the state’s children.

This assembly is formatted in a way that allowed for interaction between presenters and attendees in order to identify best practices that ensure positive results for kids and maximize returns for Georgia. Experts from across the country share knowledge on key topics and an electronic audience response system provides real time feedback.

Children’s Policy Watch at the Capitol

Children’s Policy Watch at the Capitol is Voices' annual legislative day held at the start of each session of the Georgia General Assembly.  The intended outcome is to ensure that children’s issues remain a focal point of the legislature and other state officials. Further, policy makers can be made aware of resources to increase their understanding of children’s issues.

JUSTGeorgia is a partnership of Voices, the Barton Child Law and Policy Clinic at Emory University, and Georgia Appleseed to build a statewide coalition of groups and individuals having a stake in the juvenile justice system.  At the core of the partnership is a commitment to propose a revised Juvenile Code as legislation in 2009 as well as continued monitoring of its implementation .  Accompanying the proposed legislation will be a comprehensive report summarizing the strengths and weaknesses of the current Code and making practical and realistic recommendations for fixing it.
