Children's Policy Watch at the Capitol '07

1/26/2007

A capacity audience braving horrendous early morning traffic in downtown Atlanta heard about innovative, if not radical, approaches to reforming education at the annual Voices for Georgia's Children "Childrens Policy Watch at the Capitol."

Held at the beginning of each legislative session, Children's Policy Watch at the Capitol brings together elected and other state officials, policy makers, business leaders and advocates to recognize the needs kids and build consensus on an agenda to meet those needs.

Georgia Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and University of Georgia president emeritus Dr. Charles Knapp presented visions and viewpoints on necessary change in current systems by a major overhaul in funding, curriculum and basic educational carreer structure.  In order to meet the country's needs and to compete globaly in an increasingly technical world, both agreed on the notion of steering more children into vocational institutions.
