Cover Georgia's Children For A Healthy Future

Voices and the Georgia Family Connection Partnership produced a video in early 2008 to illustrate the importance of health coverage for children through the personal stories of families in need and testimony of community leaders.  A funding crisis in 2007 forced Georgia to temporarilly halt enrollment into the federally subsidized PeachCare for Kids program and then ultimately cap enrollment at 295,000 children.  This still leaves about 300,000 kids without health coverage.

Temporary funding through Congress at the end of 2007 will help support PeachCare only until March 2009.  A long term reauthorization for the States Children's Health Insurance Program (originally authorized for 10 years beginning in 1997) still needs to be passed.  More information on SCHIP and PeachCare can be found here.
