The House and Senate convened today at 1 p.m.  Bills are beginning to be debated on the floor, and, as issues involving children in Georgia are debated, we will report them here.

This week, we expect the House to begin finalizing the Amended ’07 Budget and the Senate to vote on SB 10, a bill to provide vouchers for special needs students.

Upcoming Meetings

Tuesday, January 30

9 am, House Children and Youth Committee, 403 CAP.  Commissioner Marsha Moore of Bright from the Start will speak.

10 am, Senate convenes.

12 pm, House Appropriations Subcommittee meeting in Roon 216 CAP to vote on final recommendations on the Amended 07 budget.

2 pm. Senate Education & Youth Committee will meet in Room 310 LOB. The charter systems bill is on the agenda.

3 pm. House convenes.

4 pm; Senate Health and Human Services Committee will meet in Room 450 CAP.  A presentation on levels of care for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services is on the agenda.

Wednesday, January 31

8 a.m., Senate Appropriations Education Subcommittee meetings in room 450 CAP to review the FY0 Amended and the FY08 General Budgets for the following agencies: GA Professional Standards Commission, Office of Student Achievement, Public School Employees Retirement System, Teachers Retirement System, Department of Early Care and Learning, and Department of Education.

9 a.m. House Rules Committee meets.

10 a.m. House convenes.
