Day 24 - 2/22/2007

>> Back to Daily Highlights

While we expected the Senate PeachCare Task Force to release its recommendations for the PeachCare program on Thursday, February 22, the Task Force actually waited until Friday, when the legislature was in recess, to unveil the details of its work.

The Task Force considered several scenerios including;

  • Raising premiums to 1.5% of household income;
  • Excluding comprehensive dental and visual care from the basic PeachCare plan and, instead, making the care available for an additional monthly premium;
  • Shifting some of the PeachCare children into Medicaid by raising the threshold for Medicaid in Georgia to cover up to 125% of the FPL.
