Setting Sights Lower For Expanded SCHIP

The Kaiser Family Foundation's website on health has another very good update on SCHIP reauthorization, reporting about the goings on in Washington.

Discussions are now under way for a conference meeting between members of the House and Senate in advance of the formal conference committee meeting after the August recess.  It appears that there would be little compromise, as the Senate would demand that an SCHIP expansion would have to be modeled on its more modest $35 billion in extra funding and lower tax increase on tobacco.
