Bill Introduced to Block New SCHIP Limits

U.S. Senators from both parties have introduced S 2049 as a measure to override new SCHIP restrictions imposed by the Bush administration two weeks ago.  These restrictions would make it much more difficult for states to extend benefits to families above the 250 percent federal poverty level.

Senators argue that household incomes around the country, no matter how seemingly high, cannot keep pace with the cost of insurance.
