Georgia's Health Ranked 42nd In Nation for 2006

An annual report released the United Health Foundation places Georgia 42nd in the nation for indicators of overall individual health.  Minnesota has the top health ranking for the fourth straight year.

United Health Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit organization funded by the health care company UnitedHealth Group.  It's annual report is an accepted representation of the nation's health picture.

The report is based on factors such as personal behaviors, the environment people live and work in, decisions by public and elected officials, and the quality of medical care delivered by health professionals.

Examples include smoking, motor vehicle deaths, high school graduation rates, children in poverty, access to care and incidence of preventable disease.
