HEALTHY KIDS in Georgia
Insuring our Kids a Healthy Future
Put Kids on Your Radar
Voices’ Goal is to reduce the percent of Georgia’s children who have no
health insurance to only 4% of 0-18 year olds, from our current percentage of
12% by 2008. Access to health insurance helps to insure that all Georgia kids
receive the health care they need to lead active and productive lives.
Concurrent with efforts to cover the uninsured, Voices has also developed a
list of child health indicators that
can be used to establish a baseline for measuring the overall health of the
state's children. A copy of the Five Healthy Steps Indicators policy brief can be downloaded here.

Access to
healthcare is an important element of Voices' initiatives concerning policies
and investments focusing on the very young. Voices has published Compounding Interest: Why 0-5 is an investment worth making, a comprehensive report on better preparing children to excel in
later years that includes health as a primary component of a policy
framework.
