Promising Policies Voices is Investigating:
• Supporting efforts to enroll 100% of Georgia’s children who are already
eligible for Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids. Enrolling the 225,000 kids whose
families’ incomes fall into these categories, would amount to nearly 96%
coverage of Georgia kids.
• “PeachCare for All Kids” is a bipartisan initiative with the intent to
expand public health insurance eligibility for children and leverage the state’s
buying power to create affordable, comprehensive heath insurance plans for
children at higher income levels. A growing number of legislators have indicated
support for a revised bill that would leverage current Medicaid and Peachcare
programs and add options for non-eligible but uninsured children and teens. With
full enrollment, 100% of Georgia’s children could have health insurance under
PeachCare for All Kids.
• Support improved child health status through delivery of high quality
health care services. Encourage government agencies, care management
organizations, healthcare providers and other entities to measure and report
child health indicators, giving priority to healthy birth weight, timely
immunizations, oral health, healthy weight status, and good mental health

Children in December 2007
