Put Kids on Your Radar

Georgia ranks 23rd nationally for the number of children in state detention.  Voices’ goal is to reduce the rate of youth residing in juvenile detention and correctional facilities from 273/100,000 to 170/100,000 by 2015.

Voices is supporting this effort through its involvement with the JUSTGeorgia coalition, an initiative reduce juvenile crime and antisocial behavior through reform to state's approach to covering health, education and children’s services.  Passage of a new Juvenile Code for Georgia would provide a solid foundation for such reform, as the outdated, disjointed Juvenile Code currently in place lacks clarity, specificity and fairness to children
